About us
The Slovak Craft Industry Federation has been founded in 1992 as an association of trade communities and profession guilds. It sees itself as a successor organisation of the first Slovak Craft Industry Federation, existing in Slovakia until 1952, when this institution (along with all its assets) got nationalised by the new regime. The activities of the re-established Slovak Craft Industry Federation got reinforced by an international project in the period 1996-2002, in cooperation with the “Chamber of Crafts TRIER" in Germany, enjoying the support of the German Federal Government. This project focused on the financial, material and human support, creation of new regional trade-communities and guilds, their strengthening in the field of expert education and preparation, as well as support in the quality improvement of crafts.
The associations and guilds becoming number of the Slovak Craft Industry Federation get the opportunity of being involved in the preparation process of legislative standards, affecting their profession or the business environment in general, i.e. within the inter-resort annotation procedures, as well as in direct communication with the public authorities and the Parliament.
The Slovak Craft Industry Federation is member of the Solidarity and Development Council of the Slovak Republic, established by the Office of the Government of the Slovak Republic, being represented in work groups and commissions at various levels. We are also a co-founder of the Slovak Business Agency (SBA) along with the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic and the Association of Slovak Entrepreneurs, supporting the same in compliance with the principles of the SME-Act.
The Slovak Craft Industry Federation provides regular information services, especially through its web-page and a regularly e-mailed newsletter. As a voluntary representation of interests, we create an environment for the active work of our member organisations, so that they can tackle new social-economical issues they deem to be dealt with and they communicate them via the Slovak Craft Industry Federation in negotiations with the country's Government and MPs.
In more than the 25 years of our existence, we have established correct relations also in the field of international cooperation between professional associations, involving our member associations, i.e. through various projects, supported e.g. by the European Union, as well as other donors. We are also member of the Brussels based European Builders Confederation (EBC), pursuing the interests of small and medium sized enterprises at European level.
Slovak Craft Industry Federation's major objectives are
• Support of businesses and of a well balanced business environment
• Support of trades
• Support of education
• Support for the building of more rental apartments
• Social situation of traders and SMEs
• Tax and insurance burden of traders
